American Airlines Adds Texas Barbecue to First Class Flights

American Airlines has partnered with award-winning Texas barbecue restaurant Pecan Lodge to introduce authentic Central Texas barbecue on select First Class flights, beginning February 2026.

The collaboration invites passengers flying from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport to LaGuardia Airport and John F. Kennedy International Airport to pre-order Texas-style barbecue meals as part of their in-flight experience.

In February, First Class customers can enjoy a barbecue platter featuring smoked brisket and smoked sausage accompanied by creamy macaroni and cheese and crisp coleslaw, served with Pecan Lodge’s signature barbecue sauce. In March, the airline will offer a chopped brisket sandwich with roasted green beans and creamy potato salad. Both menu options must be pre-ordered via American’s website or mobile app starting 11 January 2026.

The partnership is part of American Airlines’ efforts to enhance the passenger experience during its 100th anniversary year, showcasing unique regional flavours and culinary partnerships. According to the airline, this initiative builds on recent premium offerings and reflects a broader focus on customer-centric service innovations.

American’s senior vice president of customer experience design and strategy highlighted the airline’s intent to delight travellers with distinctive dining experiences that celebrate local tastes, particularly from Texas, where the airline has deep roots.

This move follows other recent enhancements to American’s onboard experience, including partnerships with premium brands and expanded amenities for elite and loyalty customers, further strengthening the carrier’s long-haul product offerings.
