Air Peace Launches London Gatwick–Abuja Route Amid Record African Travel

Airlines & Airports

London Gatwick has welcomed a new direct route to Abuja, Nigeria, operated by Air Peace, as the airport marks a record-breaking summer for travel to Africa. The inaugural flight took off on 28 October, adding a second Nigerian destination to Air Peace’s schedule from Gatwick, alongside its successful daily Lagos service launched in March 2024.

The new Abuja service will run three times per week from Gatwick’s South Terminal, providing more options for business and leisure travelers while strengthening ties between the UK and West Africa.

“Air Peace’s growing presence at London Gatwick demonstrates not only the success of its popular Lagos service, but also the airline’s commitment to meeting demand for greater connectivity between London and Africa,” said Jonathan Pollard, Chief Commercial Officer at London Gatwick.

A Growing Hub for African Travel

In Q3 2025 alone, Gatwick saw more than 670,000 passengers travel to 20 African destinations — a 9% increase over 2024 and a 96% rise compared to 2019, making it the airport’s busiest African travel season to date.

With Abuja added to the roster, Gatwick now offers direct flights to 21 African cities, including Nairobi, Entebbe, and Addis Ababa, reinforcing its growing role as a gateway for trade, tourism, and diaspora travel.

“We’re incredibly proud to expand our UK operations,” said Nowel Ngala, Chief Commercial Officer of Air Peace. “This new route reinforces our commitment to seamless air travel between Africa and the world, while serving the Nigerian diaspora with competitive fares and warm Nigerian hospitality.”

More Than Just a Flight

Air Peace passengers can enjoy:

  • Multi-city domestic connections within Nigeria on a single ticket

  • Generous baggage allowance

  • In-flight Nigerian cuisine and hospitality

The launch of the Abuja service aligns with Air Peace’s mission to strengthen UK–Nigeria connectivity and boost trade, tourism, and cultural ties between the two countries.
