Air India Resumes Jeddah and Muscat Flights
Air India and Air India Express have resumed selected flight operations to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia and Muscat in Oman after authorities confirmed that airspace over both countries remains open and safe for aviation operations.
Scheduled flights resumed on March 5 and 6, 2026, reconnecting several Indian cities with Muscat through services operated by Air India Express. These include routes from Mumbai, Delhi, Kochi, Kozhikode, Mangaluru, Tiruchirappalli and Thiruvananthapuram. Air India has also restarted flights connecting Delhi and Mumbai with Jeddah.
Despite these resumptions, the Air India Group confirmed that scheduled operations to several other destinations in West Asia remain suspended until at least March 10, 2026, due to ongoing airspace restrictions affecting multiple countries in the region.
To help stranded passengers return to India, Air India and Air India Express are also operating a series of additional ad-hoc special flights between India and cities including Dubai, Muscat and Ras Al Khaimah on March 5 and 6. These flights are intended primarily for travellers who already hold bookings with either airline and have been unable to travel due to earlier disruptions.
The special flights are being operated after receiving the necessary permissions from aviation authorities in India, Oman and the United Arab Emirates, following safety and operational assessments.
Passengers whose travel plans were affected are eligible for flexible travel arrangements. Customers holding Air India tickets issued before March 4, 2026, for travel between February 28 and March 8, can rebook their flights to India within one month of their original travel date without additional charges or fare differences.
Meanwhile, Air India flights to Europe and North America continue to operate normally, although many services are using alternative flight paths over Oman, Saudi Arabia and Egypt to avoid restricted airspace. Some long-haul flights to North America are also making technical stops in Rome or Vienna before continuing to their final destinations.
The airline group said it continues to explore opportunities to operate additional flights to assist passengers as the situation in the region evolves.
