Air Europa passengers verify passports digitally with Amadeus Travel Ready

Latest Survey Reveals High Demand for Digital Travel Experiences; Air Europa Implements Amadeus Travel Ready for Streamlined Document Verification
A recent survey conducted by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) highlights a strong preference among travelers for digital experiences, with three-quarters expressing a desire to utilize biometric data instead of traditional passports and boarding passes.
The study also identifies a keen interest among travelers in simplifying pre-airport processes, particularly check-in and immigration procedures.
In response to these findings, Air Europa has adopted Amadeus Travel Ready by Traveller ID, a comprehensive suite of cutting-edge products designed to enhance travel convenience by automating and digitizing the document verification process.
This innovative technology provides travelers with assurance, allowing them to validate the compliance of specific documents before reaching the airport.
Air Europa's international passengers can now access this feature during online check-in through various digital channels, such as mobile or desktop.
Upon successful passport verification, the passenger status is automatically updated in the airline system as 'Skycleared,' reducing the time spent on manual document verifications at check-in, bag drop, and boarding, consequently minimizing queues.
Looking ahead, Amadeus Travel Ready will expand its capabilities to include the verification of other documents, such as visas. Additionally, the system will facilitate biometric identification processes at the airport through passengers' mobile devices.
This solution enables the matching of key travel credentials with biometric facial data, enhancing identification at different airline touchpoints.
Estelle Leray, Alliances Director and Head of Customer Experience at Air Europa, expressed excitement about the innovative solution:
“We are very excited with this new solution as it aligns perfectly with our innovation strategy.”
“We want to deliver the experience our customers anticipate: an easy and smooth journey.”
“We are looking for the development of biometrics enrolment capabilities which will truly enhance the experience for both our customers and agents.”
Amadeus Travel Ready is in line with the IATA One ID initiative, aiming to further streamline the passenger journey through advanced information sharing, contactless technologies, and biometric options.
Francois Blanc, Managing Director at Traveller ID, Amadeus, emphasized the acceleration of digital verification in travel documents and said:
“The digital verification of travel documents is accelerating, and Amadeus Travel Ready allows carriers to offer an enhanced experience for passengers.
“This is just one example of how Amadeus is able to support the travel industry with innovative, traveller-centric initiatives, utilizing digital identities.”
