Korean Air will launch a new daily service between Seoul Incheon and Hiroshima on December 23, 2026, further expanding its network between South Korea and regional destinations in Japan.
The route will be operated with Airbus A321neo aircraft and will provide a year-round direct connection to Hiroshima, the largest city in Japan’s Chugoku region.
Flight KE2183 will depart Seoul Incheon International Airport at 10:35 AM and arrive at Hiroshima Airport at 12:15 PM.
The return service, KE2184, will leave Hiroshima at 1:25 PM and arrive in Seoul at 3:25 PM.
Korean Air expands regional Japan network
The Hiroshima launch is the latest step in Korean Air’s expansion beyond Japan’s largest international gateways, with the airline increasing capacity to several regional cities.
For the 2026 summer season, Korean Air increased its Seoul Incheon-Aomori service to five flights per week and expanded flights between Seoul and Okayama to four times weekly.
The airline also operates daily services from Seoul Incheon to Niigata and Komatsu.
At Osaka Kansai, Korean Air has added a late-night service, providing passengers with greater flexibility between one of Japan’s largest tourism markets and the South Korean capital.
The new Hiroshima service strengthens the airline’s position in western Japan and also provides passengers originating in Hiroshima with access to Korean Air’s wider international network through its Seoul Incheon hub.
Hiroshima combines tourism and business demand
Korean Air expects the new route to serve both leisure and corporate travel.
Hiroshima is one of western Japan’s major tourism destinations, with attractions including the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and nearby Itsukushima Shrine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site on the island of Miyajima.
The region is also known for hot springs and local cuisine, including Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki and oysters, while several golf courses are located within an hour of Hiroshima Airport.
Alongside tourism, Hiroshima is an important Japanese manufacturing and industrial centre.
Mazda Motor Corporation has its headquarters and manufacturing operations in the region, while Micron Technology operates a major semiconductor facility. JFE Steel and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries also maintain significant operations in the area.
Hiroshima’s location on the Sanyo Shinkansen high-speed rail corridor provides onward connections to cities across western Japan, including Okayama, further expanding the potential catchment area for the new Korean Air service.
