Stockholm Arlanda Airport to close Terminal 3 security checkpoint from September 1

Stockholm Arlanda Airport to close Terminal 3 security checkpoint from September 1

Stockholm Arlanda Airport will close the security checkpoint in Terminal 3 on September 1, 2026, as work begins to integrate the terminal’s gate area into Terminal 2.

The project will include the construction of a new post-security corridor connecting the two terminal areas. Once completed, the gates previously operated as part of Terminal 3 will return to service under Terminal 2.

During the construction period, flights operated by Jonair, Populair and Västflyg will depart from Terminal 2.

Terminal 2 security capacity to be expanded

Work to expand the Terminal 2 security checkpoint will also begin on September 1.

Following the closure of security screening in Terminal 3, additional capacity will be installed at Terminal 2 using the same type of equipment already operating there.

The changes are intended to consolidate passenger processing while allowing the former Terminal 3 gate area to remain available for future flight operations.

Former Terminal 3 gates to reopen by end of 2026

Stockholm Arlanda plans to reopen the former Terminal 3 gate area by the end of 2026, at which point it will operate as part of Terminal 2.

The wider renovation and expansion of Terminal 2’s security facilities is expected to continue into early 2027.

Passengers travelling with Jonair, Populair or Västflyg from September 1 should therefore use Terminal 2 for their departures rather than Terminal 3.
