Cruise tourism infrastructure to be developed in Indonesia
PT Pelabuhan Indonesia III (Pelindo III), Indonesia's seaport operator, is currently upgrading the country's cruise tourism facilities
The areas included in the development process are Banyuwangi in East Java, Benoa in Bali, Lembar in West Nusa Tenggara and Kupang in East Nusa Tenggara.
The project, supported by the government, aims to build high-class tourists accommodating facilities and to boost maritime tourism in the eastern regions of the country, while considering the environment.
Pelindo III president director Djarwo Surjanto declared at the State Owned Enterprises Forum in Jakarta :
"In Benoa, we will develop a green terminal. It’s currently in the transition period from operating as a diesel fuel based terminal into gas and electricity. We are working in cooperation with Indonesia Power to supply the energy.
“If they wish, tourists can use their own boat from Banyuwangi to Kupang by transiting in Benoa.”
As Tourism Minister's Arief Yahyan target is to welcome 1.500 yachts in Indonesia in 2016, the government's officials have also improved the yacht approval procedure with the Clearance Approval for Indonesian Territory (CAIT) and an on-line stop service.
