Zelensky sends condolences to family of deceased journalist
“It is with deep sadness that I am writing to extend my heartfelt condolences to you on the tragic loss of your beloved son and brother, Brent Renaud.
“With all his courage and determination, he travelled to the most dangerous war zones to film the unprecedented ruthlessness and evil, also inflicted upon our nation by the aggressor state”, the letter quotes.
President Zelensky also expressed his deepest sympathy on his Twitter account:
“I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family of Brent Renaud who lost his life while documenting the ruthlessness & evil inflicted upon Ukrainian people by Russia. May Brent’s life & sacrifice inspire the world to stand up in fight for the forces of light against forces of darkness.”
Journalist Brent Renaud lost his life during an attack by Russian forces, in the city of Irpin, while documenting “a Time Studios project focused on the global refugee crisis". His colleague, Juan Arredondo, was injured, but fortunately survived.
On the other hand, the Russian Ambassador to the UN declared that the reporter was killed by the Ukrainian military, not by the Russian forces. However, he did not present any evidence for his claims.
