Which are the European countries with the highest risk rate?

News

The attack on the Ataturk International Airport in Istanbul, Turkey, has changed the map of European countries with the highest risk rate for tourists. As expected, Turkey ranked among the top states in which visitors should take a lot of precautions or more, to think twice before choosing it as a holiday destination.

Not only the West countries can be found on the list, but there are also many East European countries that can be found among the 41 countries included in the analysis.

After the aggressive bomb attack that occurred in the Ataturk Airport, Istanbul, Turkey ranks the six place among the top seven countries, with a dramatic result for its tourism sector.

Great Britain is placed in the first position among the countries where tourists are most likely to be surprised by an attack, as it was concluded by a study conducted by the British Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO).

France, Spain, Belgium, Germany and Russia form the main group of countries in Europe (the category of countries with severe risk) where tourists might be targeted by hostile acts during the holidays, according to experts who analyzed 41 countries.

Greece, another popular European tourist destination, sets in 15th place in the second risk category (general), along with countries like the Netherlands, Italy, Sweden and Cyprus.

British security experts have warned that what happened in Istanbul and the bombing of the airport Zaventem in Brussels, Belgium, show that airports are easy targets for terrorists. Therefore, they require increased security measures especially for countries targeted by bombings, but also increased vigilance from the travelers.
