Wego partners with the Tourism Authority of Thailand
The figures went up in the last two months, as Thailand is in the top 10 destinations for GCC travellers. As a result, Wego has closed a deal with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) in order to boost tourism in the county. Therefore, the destination will be promoted across MENA travellers as well as across all Wego marketing channels, so that people can enjoy all the touristic attractions Thailand has to offer following the Covid-19 pandemic.
Chaiwat Tamtai, Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand for Dubai and the Middle East, commented with the occasion:
“One of the key travel trends for 2022 is workcation. As a result of this trend, Wego saw a spike in the number of searches on holiday homes 136%, hotel apartments 92% and apartments by 69% in Q1 2022 in comparison to the same period last year. And to make the country travel-friendly for workcations & remote jobs, Thailand is planning to launch a long-term resident visa for retirees, working professionals, specialists, and wealthy foreigners.”
Moreover, the country launched the 'Visit Thailand Year 2022' campaign, under the immersive theme “Amazing New Chapters”, while targeting worldwide visitors aiming to take advantage of the multitude of tourism products and services here, and yet encourage responsible travel.
Mamoun Hmedan, Chief Commercial Officer and Managing Director, Middle East, North Africa (MENA) and India of Wego, added:
“We recorded over 193 % increase in the number of searches from MENA to Thailand in the last two months in comparison Feb and March 2022. Thailand ranks in the top 10 destinations for GCC travellers in 2022. We’re thrilled to partner with TAT once again to cater to the growing travel demand from the MENA region.”
A new set of rules has been ruled out for vaccinated and unvaccinated tourists from Starting 1st of June 2022, Thailand is very travel friendly, as new regulations regarding the pandemic have been issued. Nevertheless, adult tourists must be fully vaccinated at least 14 days before entering Thailand, while children between 5 and 17 years of age must present proof of first dose vaccination if travelling unaccompanied by their parents.
