Warning Issued to UK Travelers Heading to Portugal Regarding Possible Flight Disruptions

Jet2 has issued a travel alert for those who plan to visit Portugal this month and in June from the United Kingdom.

SchengenVisaInfo.com reported that the airline warned that strike action planned for these two months could cause flight disruptions. It also advised that passengers should stay up to date with the latest information about their flights.

Jet2 told Portugal News that in the event of a disruption, all passengers would be informed. The airline also stressed that passengers should arrive at the airport 2 hours prior to their flight. This will help minimize potential delays.

"Currently, all Jet2 flights are planned to operate as normal. In the event of any flight delays, further information can be found by using the above search panel by entering your flight number or route," the statement of Jet2 says.

Jet2 also said that check-in counters will close 40 minutes prior to departure. They also told passengers not to worry in case of delays, as the team works hard to get them on their way.

The strike began in certain airports in Portugal on May 20, and is expected to continue until the end June. Weekend days are the worst affected. The strike will affect a large number of flights in particular those that go to and from Lisbon Airport.

"At present, we believe this to only have a potential impact at Lisbon Airport. We are awaiting an update on the proposed impact in Faro Airport and Madeira," Jet2 mentioned.

Portugal remains one of the top European destinations for Britons and travellers from around the globe. The popularity of Portugal is expected to result in a higher number of passengers arriving at the airports during summer, surpassing the numbers registered during the first quarter of the year.
