Hanoi-Luang Prabang-Siem Reap route
Vietnam Airlines, the national flag carrier of Vietnam, will resume its Hanoi-Luang Prabang-Siem Reap-Cambodia route on July 1. Flight frequency will initially be three times a week, on Monday, Friday, and Wednesday. This will increase to five flights a week from October 30th.
The carrier claims that this route was discontinued during the COVID epidemic. The resumption of this route is expected to boost the regional economy by attracting more tourists due to the convenient travel options.
Vietnam Airlines won't serve this route as the only trans-Indochina one. The flag carrier operates seven flights a week on a route connecting Hanoi (Vietnam), Vientiane, (Laos), Phnom Penh, (Cambodia), Ho Chi Minh City.
Vietnam Airlines had carried about 400,000 passengers before the pandemic of 2019. The airline began operating flights from Siem Reap and Luang Prabang to the destination in 2000.
As travel restrictions are lifted and airlines begin to operate, passengers have more choices to choose from when it comes to flying to their destination. Vietnam Airlines has increased frequency on some popular routes, and introduced services on other routes.
Australia is a top destination for Vietnamese carriers. Vietnam Airlines has increased its Australia frequency in response to Vietjet's launch of flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Melbourne and Sydney.
To stay competitive, the carrier has launched flights between Melbourne to Hanoi. The airline operates a six-times-weekly service between Melbourne and Ho Chi Minh City. This is expected to be increased to daily next month. From June 15th, the new flights will be part of their schedule.
Vietnam Airlines announced in April that daily flights will be resumed to London Heathrow Airport LHR starting October 29th. The airline has increased the frequency of flights to these long-haul destinations due to the growing demand from passengers.
The carrier also recently started a service from Mumbai to Hanoi with its Airbus A321 aircraft. Vietjet, its low-cost competitor, already serves the route. The new service by Vietnam Airlines is aimed at the growing number of Indians who travel to Vietnam.
