US warned its citizens who visit Turkey
US warned last month its citizens in Turkey about the terrorist threats that can be really dangerous especially for tourist visiting the main monuments and museum of Ankara and Istanbul, reports Reuters.
The US Embassy in Ankara declared in a press release sent via e-mail to all American citizens that the US administration continues to receive credible indications that the terrorist groups are trying to take advantage and to attack popular tourist destinations in Turkey, writes Reuters.
The Embassy added that they have evidences that the foreign tourists in Turkey were explicitly targeted by terrorist organizations. Turkey has already been the target of four suicide bomb attacks this year, with the last one taking place in March in Istanbul. Two of the attacks were attributed to the jihadist group Islamic State (SI), and for the two others the responsibility was claimed by the Kurdish militants.
The two most important cities of Turkey, Ankara, the country’s capital and the historical city of Istanbul are facing nowadays multiple security threats, becoming a not truly save place for both tourists and locals. Turkey is struggling alongside the US-led coalition to fight against the Islamic state, facing simultaneously with all the difficulties involved in neighboring Syria and Iraq.
The country is also engaged in disputes and fights with the Kurdish militants in southeastern of its territory since in July 2015 the armistice between the two parts that lasted for two and a half years was broken, leading to the outbreak of the worst violence since the 1990s, local press writes.
