United To Offer Deutsche Bahn Bookings

Airlines & Airports

Customers of United Airlines are currently allowed to make reservations on the Deutsche Bahn.

Frankfurt Airport flights and rail tickets on the Deutsche Bahn network can now be booked together in a single United Airlines client reservation.

Through Frankfurt, passengers will be able to travel to or from 25 locations in Germany, as well as Basel, Switzerland, while using a combination of train and bus transportation. Reservations for the mixed routes can be made via the United app as well as on United.com.

According to United, one of the perks for its passengers is the opportunity to accumulate MileagePlus points for the part of the journey that is taken by train. Additionally, customers may obtain priority luggage handling at the AiRail check-in location at Frankfurt Airport, in addition to receiving boarding cards for both the air and train sections of their journeys when they check in.

The relationship between United and Deutsche Bahn is based on the Intermodal Partnership model that was established by Star Alliance in the summer of 2022. This concept was initiated when train connections were made accessible for ticketing via Lufthansa Group airlines.

The goal of the concept is to make it easier for passengers flying on Star Alliance airlines to transfer between several forms of public transportation, including trains, buses, and ferries.
