Turkish Airlines launches new Istanbul route from London Stansted
London Stansted Airport has welcomed the launch of Turkish Airlines’ new direct service to Istanbul, marking a significant expansion of the airport’s long-haul connectivity.
The inaugural flight landed on 18 March, with the airline introducing a twice-daily schedule that will operate up to 15 flights per week between London Stansted and Istanbul.
The new route provides passengers across London and the East of England with direct access to Turkey’s largest city, as well as seamless onward connections to more than 350 destinations across Asia, Africa and other global regions via Turkish Airlines’ network.
Airport officials said the launch represents an important milestone in strengthening Stansted’s position as a growing international gateway.
Turkish Airlines is also expanding its presence in London, adding Stansted as its third airport in the capital, alongside Heathrow and Gatwick.
The inaugural flights were met with strong demand, operating at full capacity. The launch was marked by celebrations at the airport, including a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a traditional water arch salute upon arrival.
The new service is expected to support both business and leisure travel, while contributing to increased tourism and economic activity in the region.
