Turkey gets closer to the European visa-free travel policy
European Commission representative meeting in Ankara next week will address visa-free travel in Europe for Turkish citizens
Negotiations between the Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu and the EU Affairs Minister Omer Celik had resulted in a "joint determination to overcome last remaining obstacles to visa liberalisation", as Brussels proposed Turkey visa-free travel into Europe if the country will stop migrants entering EU.
On the other hand, Turkey's recent close connections with Europe have transformed into a key issue for Brexit, with experts claiming that the new visa-free policy will result in millions of Turkish nationals migrating towards the UK.
After meeting President Erdogan early this week, German Chancellor Angela Merkel expressed her confidence that talks on the migrant policy will go as planned, leading to a successful visa-deal, despite dead-line ending late June. The anti-terrorism law is also a crucial aspect that may delay the free-visa agreement, but officials clearly stated that the matters are key priorities for both sides and everyone aims to stick to the plan.
