Tourism bookings expected to increase for 2016
Since now, bookings have registered a 5 point increase as tourists choose safety as the key traveling priority.
The tourism industry’s expectations for 2016 are optimistic, as the market is slowly increasing when compared to last year’s records. A 5 per cent increase has been registered so far, as further growth is expected for last-minute bookings.
Terrorist attacks last year have made security one of the top concerns for tourists worldwide, according to Andreas Andreadis opinion, president of the Association of Hellenic Tourism Enterprises (SETE).
Mr. Andreadis stated that the destinations choices this year will mainly focus on area safety and security, while others factors will have a secondary importance, based on the tourism demand for the summer to come so far.
Considering Europe, bookings from Britain, Germany, Austria, Russia, Poland and Scandinavia are slowly rising, when compared to the same period last year. On the other hand, the Dutch market is experiencing a slight decline.
In Greece’s case, it seems that bookings are beginning to gradually return to normal, as tourists are choosing this destination for their summer holidays again.
