The World Travel & Tourism Council partners the Sustainable Hospitality Alliance

News

The collaboration aims at speeding up transition to net positive global hospitality industry.

The partnership between The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) and the Sustainable Hospitality Alliance (the Alliance) has been sealed during the Sustainable Hospitality Alliance's Net Positive Summit in London by a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) targeting joined efforts towards improving environmental and social impact, as well as accelerate net positive development of the hospitality sector.

Sustainability and innovation will be the main focus areas of the partnership, while also tackling subjects such as raising awareness, launch of new commissions and projects, sector employment and climate action.

Julia Simpson, WTTC President & CEO, declared:

"The Sustainable Hospitality Alliance has been a valuable supporter of our Hotel Sustainability Basics which are the first step in the ladder to advance sustainability in the industry. Although the hospitality industry has transformed dramatically in recent years, we recognize that there is still more that we can do together.

"Our collective efforts will enable the hospitality industry to continue moving towards a greater positive impact through this new partnership."

Glenn Mandziuk, CEO of Sustainable Hospitality Alliance, added:

"We are proud to be partnering with WTTC on promoting sustainable growth. This partnership combines the Alliance's sector-specific expertise with WTTC's scale and reach to enable both our organizations to enhance collective impact across the industry and drive progress further towards net positive hospitality.

"We have partnered in the past, including on the Hotel Carbon Measurement Initiative (HCMI), and I am very positive about the future potential of our two organizations working together alongside our members and the wider industry."

The partnership will also gather experts addressing the sustainability challenges of the sector, as well as identify and support local economic development momentum, in order to attain a more sustainable future for the industry, while unlocking more opportunities for its employers and employees.

The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) represents the interests of more than 200 global travel & tourism private key players and for the last 3 decades has been committed to raising awareness on the economic importance and impact of the industry.

The Sustainable Hospitality Alliance focuses on impacting the hospitality industry on both local and global levels in matters such as responsible operations and sustainability growth. Its members feature world-leading hospitality companies such as Marriott International, Hilton, Hyatt, IHG, Radisson Hotels Group and many more.
