The Caribbean is prepared to welcome travelers
After the devastating hurricane, tourists are safe to spend the fall and winter seasons in Turks and Caicos.
Following the Category 5 storm that devastated the Caribbean, the archipelago is ready to welcome tourists for the autumn and winter seasons, as their clear message for the travelers is “Come. Please come.”
As more than a dozen islands were extremely damaged by the hurricanes, such as Barbuda, British Virgin Islands, Trinidad and Tobago, visitors are needed to travel to the island in order to help them recover.
"Seventy-five percent of the Caribbean is absolutely untouched by the hurricanes. We don't want to diminish what our neighbors have gone through, but one of the best ways to help the Caribbean is to visit the Caribbean. Many of our Caribbean island destinations are welcoming guests for fall and winter travel and hotels, beaches, and attractions are open," recently explained Hugh Riley, CEO of the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO).
The appeal comes after last year, tourism was the reason 2.3 million people had jobs across the islands, as the sector accounted for 15 per cent of the GDP.
For travelers who want to spend their holidays on the islands, the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association has compiled a web-page announcing which hot-spots are open for business, and which are on their way to recovery.
On the other hand, the Cruise Lines International Association has announced that only 47 out of 62 ports in the region are operational, with the rest of them expected to open in the next weeks.
