The 41st Caribbean Travel Marketplace will take place on the island of Barbados

News

Barbados will play home to the 41st edition of CTM, which will take place at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre in Bridgetown from May 9-11, 2023.

The President of the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA), Nicola Madden-Greig, recently made the statement that the largest annual event of the trade association, which brings together both buyers and vendors of the region's tourism products and services, will be held in Barbados for the very first time in the history of the organisation.

According to her statement, CHTA has extremely strong relationships with both public and commercial sector players in Barbados, and it is thrilled to join hands with Bajan colleagues to push investment to the Caribbean.

The Minister of Tourist and International Transport of Barbados, Ian Gooding-Edghill, also said that the Barbados tourism sector was experiencing a huge resurgence in the post-COVID climate, and that the time could not be better to welcome Caribbean Travel Marketplace on home land. According to him, the conference is a good fit with the value offers that Barbados provides, particularly those that appeal to the crucial MICE sector among other audiences.

The event that will take place this year will expand upon the achievements of the one that took place in Puerto Rico in the autumn of the previous year. The unveiling of the inaugural "Caribbean Travel Forum & Awards" was a highlight of the conference that took place in the Spanish Caribbean island.

The second edition of this event will take place in Barbados on May 9, 2023, in advance of the formal opening ceremony of Caribbean Travel Marketplace. The economics of tourism will, once again, be the primary topic of discussion at this year's forum, which will take place on May 10–11, the same week that business meetings will be conducted.

"Our private sector partners, together with the BTMI and the ministry of tourism and transport are keen to showcase Barbados' exceptional product and experiences, and we cannot wait to welcome you to our island home," added Renée Coppin, President of the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association.

In the meantime, Madden-Greig thinks that this year's event would also give access to the Eastern Caribbean for buyers and travel agencies. This comes at a time when the area is placing a significant emphasis on the renaissance of multi-destination tourism.

Information on registration will be made available in the near future.
