At least 21 people were injured in a terrorist attack committed on Monday afternoon in the southern district of Jerusalem as Israeli authorities announced. The representatives have also added that two of the victims are in critical condition, reports Ynetnews.com quoted by Reuters. Police were investigating whether one of the people seriously injured in the explosion was in fact the terrorist responsible.

The explosion occurred on Monday afternoon aboard a bus on Hebron Avenue in Jerusalem, in the southern outskirts divided between Israel and the Palestinian authority. The attack took place aboard the bus line 12 in the Moshe Baram area, in the Israeli part of the city. The bus travels from East Talpiot neighborhood (Armon HaNatziv) to the Mount Herzl. As a result of the explosion, another bus and a car caught fire.

Bracha Sprung, spokesman for West Jerusalem Mayor, Nir Barkat, declared that even though it was a small explosive device, it was clearly a bomb. At least 21 people - aged between 10 and 50 years - were injured, two of them still being in serious condition. Most of the wounded were transferred to Shaare Tzedek Medical Center in Jerusalem.

So far, the attack has not been claimed by any terrorist groups, but most likely is the work of the Palestinian radical Islamist groups.
