Taiwan expected to boost its cruise tourism potential
The growing travel demand for Taiwan is expected to trigger a significant increase in the country's cruise tourism
The statement belongs to the senior executive of Princess Cruises, who announced that northern Taiwan's Keelung Port will be the home port for the company's cruise ships starting the year to come.
According to Trey Hickey, senior vice president of international sales for Princess Cruises, Taiwan's potential to be one of the main cruise markets worldwide is huge, partially because of the advantages the country benefits from its close connections and business relationships with China, which currently welcomes over 4 million cruise customers each year.
The market is continuously growing in the area, due to Taiwan's location which provides fast and easy links with other countries in the Asian continent. Moreover, travellers from the West or the Middle East are becoming familiarized with starting their Asian cruise trips from Taiwan.
“Geographically, Taiwan has a position and an ideal location in the cruise business,” Hickey declared at a news conference held in Taipei.
The country is expected to become the world’s largest cruise tourism market by the end of 2020.
