Sydney is covered up in Vivid light again

News

If you happen to be in Sydney during the following two weeks, you can’t miss the amazing Vivid light festival. It’s the tenth edition and people from all over the world are expected to arrive during the following days to be mesmerized by the light show.

This festival completely transforms Sydney into a dazzling and colorful canvas. It’s Australians’ way to celebrate the creative industries. Also, this festival is renowned as the greatest festival of light in the entire world, where light, ideas, and music mingle together and attract more than 2 million visitors per year (2.33 million people visited Sydney during the Vivid festival last year) for 23 nights in a row.

“Vivid Sydney is undeniably Australia’s largest event and 2018 promises to entertain, inspire and innovate,” were the words of Adam Marshall, the NSW Minister for Tourism and Major Events.

This year, it appears that the organizers had one idea in mind when they planned everything: “bigger is better”.

The Circular Quay of Sydney is home to two of the most well-known structures: the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. The Bridge, for instance, is quite impressive in terms of size. During these days, the Vivid light festival creates the illusion that the bridge constantly changes its shape.

Jonathan Zawada is the artist that designed the display present on the Opera House. This display, which is entitled “Metamathemagical” and gives the building a completely different appearance.

If you’re planning to visit Sydney during the Vivid festival, you should know that the city might be quite crowded during the first few days of the event.

Also, it’s recommended to travel by train or simply walk from the hotel towards Circular Quay, as most roads in this area are closed during the event. If you want to get a truly spectacular view of the light show, you can opt for one of the several charter boat services available in the harbor.

The Vivid light festival will run in Sydney until Saturday, June 16th.
