
Save Venice partners The Gritti Palace

Save Venice NGO and The Gritti Palace - a Luxury Collection Hotel, Venice, will collaborate with the common goal of preserving the city’s art and architecture.
The recent Save Venice’s 50th Anniversary Gala was sponsored by The Gritti Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Venice. The projects presented during the event, aiming at conserving Venice, are scheduled to be publicly announced on January 11, 2023.
During its half of century activity, Save Venice NGO has saved almost 2,000 works of art and architecture, while funding restoration and educational projects worth billions of dollars. The deal with The Gritti Palace was closed with the same common goal of further preserve the city’s cultural legacy, as well as increase awareness on its unique history.
Save Venice’s Chairman, Frederick Ilchman, commented with the occasion:
“Thinking about the discerning guests of past decades – from Ernest Hemingway to Peggy Guggenheim and Frank Lloyd Wright – who made this iconic hotel their home away from home, it is an honour to be affiliated with The Gritti Palace and to be a beneficiary of its generous support. The Gritti Palace is itself one of the treasures of Venice, so it is fitting that this legendary hotel has prioritized the conservation of the art and architecture of the city we cherish.
“This partnership comes at a culminating moment in Save Venice’s history as we mark half a century with a grand celebration in Venice this October, and while we prepare for much work to come in future decades to preserve Venice’s cultural patrimony.”

Save Venice celebrated its 50th Anniversary in October 2022. More than 200 guests attended the event. With the occasion, the organization curated and restored more than 40 Venetian art works, including Byzantine apse mosaics, as well as several iconic buildings and church works. The Gritti Palace partnership is set to enhance efforts of preserving the cultural heritage of the city of Venice.
