Russia aims to resume international flights for “friendly” countries

News

China, Algeria, Peru, Lebanon and Pakistan will be among the 52 “friendly” nations that Russia will target in order to relaunch international air travel.

Moreover, Argentina, South Africa and other countries that have not adhered to the Western sanction waves are considered to be “friendly” nations and taken into consideration for international travel relaunch.

Flights have been recently resumed for China, Algeria, Peru, Lebanon and Pakistan, while according to the statements of the Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, travel restrictions will also be lifted at the land border that separates Russia and China.

Russia has implemented travel restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic since March 2020. Now, the country aims to reconsider flying regulations for the list of “friendly” countries that are also safe for air travel.

In response of North America and Europe banning Russian aircraft from their airspace due to the war in Ukraine, Russia closed its air access to airlines from 36 countries, members of the European Union included, also as a result of the sanctions imposed regarding the invasion.
