Radisson Collection Milan Hotel To Host A Captivating Floral Art Display

News

Studio Mary Lennox is the latest addition to Radisson Collection's roster of worldwide art partners as part of the hotel chain's ongoing Art Series.

For the grand opening celebration of the new Radisson Collection Hotel, Santa Sofia Milan, The Studio designed a sensory-rich botanical art exhibition.

The display is the most recent installment of the Radisson Collection's global Art Series, a program in which the hotel chain regularly works with modern artists to produce interactive works of art outlining iconic travel destinations that are shared via digital and social media platforms and displayed in hotels to enhance the guests' stay.

The Radisson Collection, which is the premium lifestyle collection of landmark hotels owned by the Radisson Hotel Group, has announced that it will expand the worldwide Art Series project to include the emerging form of botanical art. This will add to the roster of program ambassadors already present in the disciplines of illustration, the field of photography, and sculpture. Each of the art partnerships features an original piece of work by an up-and-coming artist that was commissioned by Radisson Collection to pay homage to one of the hotel chain's flagship properties.

Studio Mary Lennox was given the opportunity to install artistic setups at the ground floor of the Santa Sofia Milan hotel, as an allusion to Milan's botanical urban scenery and rich design setting. Inspired by Milan's vibrant stained-glass windows and regional flora, the show incorporates the hotel's architectural design.

The ground-floor bar's ceilings have a gestural "fresco" type pattern, with wild assemblages of pressed flowers and leaves. The pressed flower displays, in conjunction with the available natural light, provide a dynamic floral shadow movement that changes throughout the day.

The show, which is free and open to the public for the next six months, stretches from the hotel foyer into the Sofia Kitchen & Bar.

In addition to the decor, the hotel's bar has introduced a new trademark drink called the Inti Por Vida, which puts a flowery and herbal spin on the traditional Pisco Sour by using chamomile and bay leaf syrup.

The hotel has also designed a self-directed botanical walking tour of Milan, which is in keeping with the Radisson Collection's mission to provide guests with meaningful, enriching, and locally-relevant activities. The map, which can be requested from the hotel's concierge, provides visitors with a creative lens through which they can tour Milan, focusing on the many pubs, restaurants, and secret gardens that have floral themes and are conveniently located near the property.

The artwork was commissioned by the Radisson Collection Hotel, Santa Sofia Milan to mark the occasion of its grand inauguration. A municipal icon since the 1960s, the hotel's structure has been completely refurbished to provide 159 guest rooms and suites, in a style of historic Milanese homes.

Located in the heart of Milan, between the historic Piazza del Duomo and the trendy Navigli waterway neighbourhood, the Radisson Collection Hotel, Santa Sofia Milan is the sixth hotel of the upscale lifestyle concept in Italy.

Radisson Collection hotels are known for its unique art and design, which often includes works by local and globally renowned artists. The Group will continue collaborating with a variety of new artists to build on the popularity of the worldwide Art Series to date and provide guests with an unforgettable experience across all Radisson Collection properties.
