Okura Resort to debut in Muscat

News

The Okura Resort Muscat will be opened in 2027 in the capital of the Sultanate of Oman.

The property will also be the first of its kind in Oman to bear the Okura name and to be owned by a Japanese company. Saud Bahwan Group has been hired to administer the new facility on behalf of the corporation.

Each of the hotel's 150 rooms will be around 50 square metres in size. Views of the Gulf of Oman and the expansive Al Mouj Golf course, which hosts the European Tour, will be available from each suite.

Both Omani and Japanese aesthetics and culture will be included into the design of the hotel's public areas, such as the lobby. All-day cuisine, teppanyaki, and other Japanese, as well as Western, fine dining alternatives will be on offer. In addition to having two swimming pools, a spa, and a fitness centre, the hotel will also feature conference facilities dedicated to various events.

The country's extensive coastline along the Indian Ocean is home to an abundance of marine life. Yachting, scuba diving, and other water activities are also rather common.

The Sultanate of Oman has had long-standing ties to Asia and Japan in particular due to its role as a commercial hub for merchants over the ages, as 2022 honours the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties. The government of Oman has also set a goal of creating a diversified economy by the year 2040 as part of its national "Oman Vision 2040" plan, which was developed in 2019.
