Norwegian Citizens Receive 144-Hour Visa-Free Entry from China

Norway citizens will not need a visa if they are only planning to stay in China for six days or less and then travel to another destination.

SchengenVisaInfo.com reported that the Chinese government had decided to allow Norwegians 144 visa-free entries to China.

"China has decided to include Norway on the list of countries that qualify for 72 or 144 hours of visa-free transit on arrival," China's Foreign Minister Qin Gang mentioned.

This arrangement was previously in place with 53 countries, and now Norway is included.

To benefit from visa-free travel, one must leave China and then go to another country. The Chinese authorities have stated that if you enter the country using the visa-free policy and do not continue your travels to a third nation, it will be considered illegal.

According to China Briefing, the following countries currently enjoy the 144-hour policy of visa-free international transit:

There are 24 Schengen zone countries: Austria (Austria), Belgium, Czech Republic (Estonia), Denmark, Finland, Germany France, Hungary, Iceland, Latvia and Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands Malta, Portugal, Poland

Other European countries: Russia, United Kingdom (Ireland), Cyprus, Bulgaria. Romania. Ukraine. Bosnia and Herzegovina. Montenegro.

Six American countries are Argentina, The United States of America, Brazil, Canada and Mexico.

Oceania is made up of two countries: Australia and New Zealand.

Six Asian countries are South Korea, Japan (Singapore), Brunei, United Arab Emirates and Qatar.

Norwegians can travel to the following destinations under the 144-Hour Visa-Free Transit: Beijing, Tianjin (Hebei Province), Shijiazhuang, Qinhuangdao, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu.

The policy allows transit without a visa for 144 hours if you have a passport valid for at least three months after your arrival date. You also need an interline ticket and a landing card if you are a foreigner.

Authorities in both countries have welcomed the agreement between China & Norway. Qin Gang, Chinese State Councilor & Foreign Minister said that China appreciates Norway’s firm adherence the one-China Policy and that both countries respect each other’s core interests ad major concerns.
