Northern collaborated with Community Rail Lancashire to educate 20 students from Temple Moor High School on rail safety, culminating in a practical learning experience and a museum visit in Leeds, showcasing Northern's commitment to community engagement.

A delightful and educational excursion to Leeds City Museum was organized for a group of 20 youngsters, thanks to Northern's initiative on rail safety awareness. The participants, hailing from Temple Moor High School, a center catering to students with a broad spectrum of special educational needs, were engaged in an informative session on rail safety. This educational activity was spearheaded by the TrainEd team from Community Rail Lancashire in collaboration with Northern.

The session covered essential rail safety topics, including the dangers of trespassing and the procedures for boarding trains and ticket verification. Following this, the students had the chance to apply their newfound knowledge during their journey from Cross Gates to Leeds aboard a Northern service, making their way to the Leeds Museum for an enriching visit.

Kerry Peters, Northern's regional director, expressed enthusiasm about supporting Community Rail Lancashire's efforts in youth education, highlighting the significance of some participants' first train travel experience. Peters emphasized Northern's dedication to positively influencing the communities within the North and its pride in facilitating such meaningful interactions.

This initiative not only provided free travel for the group, allowing them to enjoy a day of camaraderie and discovery, but also underscored Northern's position as a key player in the train service industry. As the second-largest train operator in the country, Northern operates nearly 2,000 daily services across over 500 stations in the North of England, reaffirming its commitment to community service and educational outreach.
