New Partnership Between Royal Air Maroc and Air Senegal To Impact Passengers

Passengers on both airlines will be eligible for discounts as a result of the agreement.
In order to better serve its clients, Royal Air Maroc (RAM), Morocco's main airline, and Air Senegal, the country's second largest airline, have signed a strategic agreement (MoU). Both national carriers hope that by joining forces, they can foster greater long-term cooperation and accelerate steady expansion.
As part of the arrangement, RAM customers will be able to book flights via Air Senegal's sales channels and vice versa. Customers may book flights on either airline and board planes bound for any of the carriers' route points.
RAM has 75 destinations in more than 40 countries, one of which is Senegal. Its fleet of 55 planes helps make this possible, and those planes come from manufacturers including Airbus, ATR, Boeing, and Embraer. The Senegalese airline has 11 planes and services roughly 22 airports in 17 countries.
A number of additional destinations in Africa, Europe, and the Middle East are now accessible through connections at Casablanca Mohamed V International Airport (CMN) and Dakar Blaise Diagne International Airport (DSS). In addition, clients will have greater flexibility in selecting their preferred schedule of departure and arrival times on certain days.
According to RAM CEO Abdelhamid Addou, the "partnership is perfectly in line with the excellent relations between the two countries."
A cross-functional group will also be formed to carry on the commercial and technical rollout of the recently inked deal and see that it is finished on schedule. Badara Fall, general manager of Air Senegal, commented:
"Royal Air Maroc and Air Senegal are today realizing the desire of the highest authorities of our respective countries to develop this air bridge, both in terms of transport of passengers and cargo."
The authorities of both countries view this as a win-win situation that will help their own airlines while also fostering closer economic, social, and cultural ties between Morocco and Senegal.
Air travel between Morocco and Senegal
The history of diplomatic ties between Morocco and Senegal dates back more than a century. Flag carriers have been crucial in facilitating travel, commerce, and tourism in recent years. There are four weekly flights on the Airbus A321 operated by Air Senegal between DSS and CMN, and up to eight weekly flights on the 787 Dreamliner and 737-800 operated by Royal Air Maroc.
The National Agency of Civil Aviation and Meteorology (ANACIM) of Senegal has revealed that the Moroccan national carrier is the top African airline in the country. Based on Q12023 data, RAM seems to have dominated passenger and freight transit to and from Dakar, with a market share of 15%.
Also, CMN was the second most popular entry point to DSS, behind Paris, accounting for around 16% of arrivals. With approximately 20,000 yearly passengers, the route between Morocco and Senegal is crucial for both airlines.
