Melia Hotels Announces New Hotel in Barcelona

Melia Hotels International has announced a long-term deal to manage the Rey Juan Carlos Hotel in Barcelona.

The luxury Gran Melia brand will manage the hotel, naming it "Miranda de Pedralbes" in tribute to the area where the hotel is situated. The hotel's location in the Pedralbes neighborhood, near the Polo Club, and its stunning views of the city make it a haven for guests and locals alike. Melia Hotels International, the current owner, and Tyrus Capital, an important investor in the assets have given the hotel to Melia Hotels International. They want to take over management of the hotel as well as the Congress Centre attached, and elevate it to a new level of success after it was closed in 2020.

The new Gran Melia hotel is designed to create a unique, high-quality resort destination that offers guests a true leisure and lifestyle experience. The renovation will bring the hotel up to the luxury standards and provide new leisure and dining options. They will also include a rooftop area that offers spectacular views of Barcelona. This is expected to be a popular meeting spot in Barcelona, following the example of Melia's roof-top bars and lounges in Madrid, Milan, and London.
