Marriott International to Expand Significantly in Poland

Hotels & Resorts

Marriott International plans to introduce over 10 new properties in Poland, including first-time launches of Le Méridien and Element Hotels by Westin, enhancing its presence in the region.

Marriott International has announced an ambitious expansion in Poland, aiming to add more than 10 new properties across the country. This expansion includes the introduction of two brands to the Polish market: Le Méridien and Element Hotels by Westin.

Currently, Marriott boasts a robust presence in Poland with 24 properties and over 4,500 rooms spread across 12 brands in cities like Warsaw, Krakow, and Gdynia. The expansion strategy aligns with Marriott’s growth in luxury, premium, and select service tiers, catering to both leisure and business travelers in Eastern Europe.

Jerome Briet, Chief Development Officer for Europe, Middle East & Africa at Marriott International, emphasized the company's strategy to diversify its portfolio in Poland to satisfy the strong travel demand. He noted the importance of the Marriott Bonvoy program and the company’s comprehensive distribution platform in driving growth with local franchisees and owners.

Among the anticipated openings is the Le Méridien Krakow Royal in 2025, which will bring the brand’s chic European charm to Poland. The expansion also includes plans for a Tribute Portfolio hotel in Warsaw and an Autograph Collection hotel in Wroclaw, along with a second Renaissance hotel in Gdansk Old City.

The debut of Element by Westin in Wroclaw this spring highlights Marriott’s response to the growing demand for extended-stay accommodations. The select service segment will also see additions with new Four Points by Sheraton in Poznan and Wroclaw and a new Moxy Hotel in central Warsaw.

Furthermore, Marriott plans to enhance its luxury offerings with the second Luxury Collection property, H15 Luxury Palace, located in the historic Lubomirski Palace in Krakow.

Briet further commented on the significance of conversion and adaptive re-use projects, which make up more than half of Marriott’s development pipeline in Poland. This indicates a strong confidence in Marriott International’s brand reputation and its capability to meet diverse market needs.
