London Enjoys Strong Tourism Growth

English tea, the Queen, The Big Bang, London has it all! And the tourist do enjoy the UK capital in spite of the cold rain, as London welcomed a record number of international tourists in the summer time of the last year. 10.5 million international tourist visited its great museums and cultural sites or enjoyed a pint of beer, with a 4.7 per cent increase year-on-year. The Office for National Statistics International Passenger Survey records a number of more that 5.2 million visits to the capital. 

According to this research, London has enjoyed a remarkably high number of visitors in the previous period, with record numbers from 2009 to 2014. However the ascending line surpassed all expectations this year with a 22.5 per cent increase in the number of worldwide visitors. According to the above mentioned study, not only the capital enjoys a high number of visits, but a lot of places across the country. Guests enjoyed the small towns, went to concerts in Manchester and other major cities, or visited towns that host famous university such as Oxford or Cambridge.

Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, official said he is delighted by these results and believes that these impressive numbers are also due to some successful cultural projects such as Lumiere London, one of Europe's light festivals, that offered a million people an incredible experience from West End to King's Cross.  The Mayor has shown interest in developing other projects of this kind to increase the reputation of London as a cultural city and to attract as many types of audiences.

Also the UK citizens has been traveling to the capital in 2015. Whether for business or to visit their relatives or just to enjoy the atmosphere of the capital, they recorded an impressive number of domestic visits, with 9.3 million visits to London from January to September 2015.

The capital enjoyed and strong campaign that has been promoting the city, as London has consolidated its position as one of the most beautiful and important world capitals. The London authorities consider tourism as a vital industry, bringing substantial revenues annually and contributing effectively to the country's economy
