Lagos to be promoted as a World Tourism Destination

News

The decision has been made public by EVV’s Program Director Dozie Atueyi while announcing the Lagos Art and Tourism Expo exhibition tour organized across Istanbul, London and Toronto between October and December 2022.

According to Atueyi, the world is yet to discover the full tourism potential of both Lagos State and Nigeria, so that the country can boost total revenue generated by the tourism industry. By this project, local music, arts, dance performances, crafts, culture and travel hot-spots will be displayed to the entire world.

“We are out to project Nigeria, most especially Lagos to the world. We want to reverse the trend of people wanting to go abroad to tourist attractions, as there are lots of opportunities here.

“We will be projecting Lagos aquatic offerings, tourism potential, cultural assets, fabrics, artworks and all manner of crafts. This is to make Lagos the most preferred destination for tourism, leisure and business.

“This tourism, cultural potential, arts and crafts will be exhibited in Istanbul from October 5 to 9, in London from November 16 to 20 and in Toronto from December 14 to 18,” Atueyi commented.

Moreover, the founder of Lagos International Jazz Festival, Ayoola Sadare, explained that the traditional music presented during the exhibition is set to create more marketing platforms for the Nigerian culture to be known and recognised by more international travellers.

During the Lagos Art and Tourism Expo exhibition, attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy storytelling sessions, as well as purchase unique art works, household accessories as well as Nigerian souvenirs.

Triumph Dominon, the sponsorship consultant, also urged Nigerians to take pride in their rich and diverse culture.

“I love Nigeria and specifically Lagos State with huge wealth of culture, we should learn to appreciate ourselves.

“People said Lagos is crazy but New York is crazier, we must learn to appreciate our Lagos,” Dominon added.
