JetBlue Unveils BlueFirst, Its New Domestic First Class

JetBlue Unveils BlueFirst, Its New Domestic First Class

JetBlue has unveiled BlueFirst, its new domestic first-class product, with the first equipped aircraft scheduled to enter service later in 2026.

The new cabin will feature seats arranged in a 2-2 configuration, additional legroom, upgraded inflight entertainment and a new food and beverage concept that allows passengers to order meals and even customize cocktails through their seatback screens.

BlueFirst will be introduced on routes where JetBlue does not currently offer its Mint premium product, giving the airline a dedicated first-class offering across more of its domestic network.

Bookings are expected to open this fall, with initial routes and further details to be announced later in the year.

BlueFirst Seats Get Up to Seven Inches of Extra Legroom

JetBlue has partnered with mattress company Tuft & Needle to develop the seats for BlueFirst.

The seats use the company’s T&N Flex foam, designed to provide additional support and pressure relief.

BlueFirst will have a 2-2 seating configuration, with five inches of recline and up to seven inches of additional legroom compared with JetBlue’s standard Main cabin seats.

“Customers told us loud and clear that comfort matters most, so that’s where we started,” said JetBlue CEO Joanna Geraghty.

“We worked with Tuft & Needle to create an added level of comfort that makes BlueFirst feel different from the moment you sit down.”

Passengers travelling on overnight services will also receive a blanket and snooze kit.

13.3-Inch Screens Include Bluetooth and Seatback Ordering

Every BlueFirst seat will have a 13.3-inch entertainment screen with Bluetooth connectivity, allowing passengers to connect their own wireless headphones.

The screens will run the latest version of Blueprint by JetBlue, the airline’s personalized inflight entertainment platform.

One of the more unusual additions is integrated seatback ordering.

Passengers will be able to choose meals, browse onboard products and send orders directly to cabin crew through the entertainment system.

A new “Mixologist Mode” will allow passengers to build their own cocktail by selecting a spirit, mixer and flavorings from the screen.

Each seat will also include USB-A, USB-C and 110VAC power.

JetBlue’s complimentary Fly-Fi high-speed internet will continue to be available gate-to-gate.

JetBlue Introduces FirstFare Dining

JetBlue is introducing a new meal concept called FirstFare alongside BlueFirst.

On flights of 899 miles or longer, meals will be presented in a custom bento-inspired box containing an entrée, side and dessert.

Examples include sweet or savory crepes and sesame noodles served with either beef or tofu.

BlueFirst passengers will also receive rotating premium snacks from brands including Sockerbit, Tosi, Wholesome Bakery, Pop Daddy Snacks and Cape Cod Chips, with selections varying by route.

The drinks programme will include wines selected by New York-based Parcelle, coffee from Cometeer and Joe Coffee, and teas from Smith Teamaker.

Drinks will be served in Fable glassware, accompanied by coasters created in collaboration with New York illustrator Danielle Rose Fisher.

“Traditional first-class food and beverage can feel stuck in the past,” Geraghty said. “BlueFirst is our way of refreshing the experience for today’s traveler.”

BlueFirst Includes Two Free Checked Bags

BlueFirst passengers will receive Group 1 boarding, dedicated overhead bin space and priority check-in.

Expedited access towards airport security will also be available at more than 30 airports.

Both BlueFirst and BlueFirst Flex fares will include two free checked bags, priority baggage delivery and no change or cancellation fees.

The combination of airport and onboard benefits positions BlueFirst as a more traditional domestic first-class product than JetBlue’s existing EvenMore extra-legroom offering, while remaining below the airline’s lie-flat Mint experience.

BlueFirst Will Complement JetBlue Mint

JetBlue plans to offer BlueFirst in markets where Mint is not currently available.

Mint will remain the airline’s higher-end premium product on selected transcontinental and international services, while BlueFirst will expand premium seating to shorter domestic routes.

“Domestic first class has become easy to predict. We think it’s time for a fresh take,” Geraghty said.

“Customers are increasingly looking for more premium experiences, and BlueFirst gives them an elevated experience that feels distinctly JetBlue, with thoughtful touches, caring service and great value.”

The launch forms part of JetBlue’s wider JetForward strategy and follows the expansion of its BlueHouse airport lounge concept, including the recent opening of its second BlueHouse lounge in Boston.

JetBlue plans to announce the first BlueFirst routes and detailed booking availability later in 2026.
