ITA Airways Expands Flights to Buenos Aires

Airlines & Airports

ITA Airways increases weekly flights to Buenos Aires to nine and strengthens its codeshare partnership with Aerolíneas Argentinas, offering enhanced connectivity between Italy and South America in the summer of 2024.

ITA Airways is set to elevate its service offerings between Italy and Argentina by introducing two additional weekly flights to Buenos Aires from Rome Fiumicino Airport in the 2024 summer season. This expansion will increase the total weekly frequencies to nine starting from June, in response to the strong performance and high load factor witnessed by the Rome-Buenos Aires route in 2023.

The airline's commitment to South America extends beyond Argentina, with ITA Airways planning to operate up to 30 round-trip flights per week to the continent at the peak of summer 2024. Recognizing South America's significance for both business and leisure travelers, as well as its large Italian diaspora, ITA Airways aims to be the preferred airline for connecting these vibrant communities with their home country.

ITA Airways' network includes up to 14 weekly flights to Sao Paulo and 7 to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil's major cities, underscoring the airline's strategic focus on the South American market.

Further solidifying its commitment, ITA Airways has reinforced its codeshare agreement with Argentina's national airline, Aerolíneas Argentinas. This partnership ensures seamless travel experiences for passengers flying between Rome Fiumicino and Buenos Aires Ezeiza International Airport, with the convenience of a single ticket for the entire journey.

The enhanced codeshare flights are available for booking through both airlines' websites, booking systems, and travel agencies. ITA Airways will apply its "AZ" flight code to the Rome-Buenos Aires route, as well as to 32 domestic destinations within Argentina and 6 additional international destinations in South America. Conversely, Aerolíneas Argentinas will use its "AR" code on ITA Airways flights between Buenos Aires and Rome, as well as on connections from Rome to various domestic and international destinations.

This collaboration marks a significant milestone in ITA Airways' rapid expansion, showcasing its ability to establish 34 codeshare agreements within just over two years of operations, highlighting its growing presence in the international aviation market.
