IATA To Host First Annual Global Sustainability Symposium

News

The IATA World Sustainability Symposium (WSS) will be held for the first time on October 3-4, 2017 in Madrid, Spain.

The conference will promote crucial debates, in seven important areas, since governments have now joined the sector in its pledge to carbon-neutralize the flying industry by 2050. Topics will feature Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF), which are a part of the larger plan to reach no net emissions from aviation by 2050. Government and policy assistance are considered to play an essential role in reaching this goal.

Efficient use of sustainable practices is another target of the symposium. Investments in the energy revolution will also be discussed. Quantifying, monitoring, and disclosing emissions, taking care of emissions that aren't carbon dioxide, value chains and their importance will be other topics addressed by the meeting’s agenda.

According to IATA Director General Willie Walsh, who is scheduled to speak at WSS, the essential enablers for aviation's effective carbon neutrality, the largest challenge ever, will be debated and discussed by the worldwide community of sustainability professionals in the aviation sector and policymakers.

The WSS will serve as a meeting place for those in the aviation sector who are concerned with sustainability, as well as lawmakers, regulators, and other members of the industry's network.

Attendees and speakers are invited to visit the official webpage of the event.
