Hong Kong Airlines to operate new flights to Japan

Hong Kong Airlines will operate flights to Yonago, Tottori Prefecture, Japan, becoming the first carrier to operate direct flights on this particular route. The airline company will provide twice a week flights starting 14th of September.

Situated in Western Honshu, the Yonago city will now can be easily reached by tourists embarked on the all-economy class Airbus A320 aircraft. More, Yonago is not a random choice since, with both air routes and sea routes, the city serves as a gateway to the entire region. The city has a long history of commerce, and it has continued to prosper since the days that it served as a castle town during the Edo Period.


Li Dianchun, chief commercial officer of Hong Kong Airlines, said: “We are delighted to be launching our second route in the Chugoku region after our success with the Okayama route in March this year. Our Yonago route will open up more options to our passengers in West Honshu. We have great confidence in this route and we hope to bring travellers from around the world to this scenic and cultural Prefecture.”


Based in Hong Kong, Hong Kong Airlines’ network currently covers almost 30 cities regionally, including Beijing, Shanghai, Sanya, Bangkok, Bali, and Okinawa. The current passenger fleet has 28 aircraft, which includes five Airbus A330-300s, nine Airbus A330-200s and nine A320s, with up-to-date inflight entertainment system and an average age of around 4 years as of February 2016.
