If you haven’t planned your next holiday yet, you may want to choose Botswana. Here are 10 reasons why you should visit this country:
1. There’s no need for a visa
If you travel on a British passport, for instance, you won’t need a visa. You can spend up to half a year discovering this country and exploring every corner of it and you don’t have to worry about any expensive paperwork during this period.
2. No more crowded cities here
If you live in a big city, you may have already gotten used to the chaos and bustle there, especially at rush hours. Well, one very good reason why you should plan your hideaway in Botswana is that you’ll have plenty of space for yourself and you get rid of all that stress caused by traffic, people running in all directions and crowded streets.
It is one of the least crowded countries on the globe and it only has 3.5 people per square kilometer. Compare it to Britain for example, where there are more than 260 people per square kilometer, and you’ll understand the difference.
3. Okavango Delta
A mesmerizing place in Africa that is also one of the Seven Natural Wonders of this continent is the Okavango Delta. It spreads out across more than 15,000 square kilometers and is home to thousands of species of animals, including the Nile crocodile, black rhino, the African elephant and spotted hyena.
4. Plenty of big cats
Big cat lovers should definitely visit Botswana at least once in their lifetime, as this is one of the healthiest populations of lions, leopards and cheetahs on the continent. Include Chobe National Park on your list.
5. Plenty of elephants too
Botswana has more elephants than any other country in the world. The authorities have managed to maintain local elephant populations stable, compared to what happened in other countries.
6. An Abundance of wildlife
One of the greatest reasons why wildlife in Botswana is so abundant is that nearly half of the country’s land is protected. This is why this place can be considered heaven on earth for wildlife animals.
7. The desert version of “Louvre”
One of the places you must visit in Botswana is Tsodilo, which is best known as the “Louvre of the Desert” and which benefits from World Heritage status. Located in the Kalahari Desert, this place is home to more than 4,500 rock paintings, thus making it one of the highest and most beautiful concentrations of rock art.
