Greece issues new rules for tourists infected with the Covid-19 virus

News

The new health protocol rules released by the ministers of tourism, health, and economy for the operation of tourism businesses cancels quarantine rooms at hotels, as self isolation will no longer be mandatory for travellers who become infected with the virus. Moreover, infected travellers will have access to all forms of transport, if they permanently wear an FFP2 or a KN95 face protection.

However, people who are not tourists will still have to isolate themselves for 5 days.

Greece ended all Covid-19 restrictions starting May, yet as the number of cases in the country is currently on the rise, authorities have advised all travellers to wear a face mask while indoors.

Recent data from the World Health Organization showed that Greece registered 113.373 new Covid-19 cases during the last week, as well as 150 deaths attributed to the virus.

According to the Minister of Tourism, Vasilis Kikilias, the country is experiencing an increasing number of arrivals this season, with more and more tourists expected to enter the country each day.

The increase was also reported by a recent survey from World Travel Market, showing that the highest tourist arrivals rates since the pre-pandemic period registered in six of the top ten destinations in Europe are in Greece.
