flydubai launches new route to Samarkand Uzbekistan

News

“We started our operations to Uzbekistan in 2019 and we were pleased to see the market grow as the demand for travel returned. With a combined frequency of eight flights a week to Samarkand and Tashkent, we look forward to further supporting the trade and cultural links with the UAE and encouraging more people to visit this beautiful country steeped in history and tradition”, commented Hamad Obaidalla, flydubai’s Chief Commercial Officer.

Flights to Samarkand International Airport (SKD) will be available for passengers from Terminal 3 at Dubai International (DXB), on every Tuesday and Friday.

With the launch of the new route to Samarkand, flydubai has expanded its business to 102 destinations. The flights are operated by a 65 Boeing 737 aircraft fleet.

Jeyhun Efendi, Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations and E-commerce at flydubai, added about the beginning of the new service:

“Central Asia is an important and growing market for flydubai. flydubai’s new service will provide our customers from Samarkand and the adjacent areas with an easier and more efficient way to travel to the UAE and beyond. We will start with a twice-weekly service from September and we are excited to see the market grow even further in the future.”

Samarkand is an historic city, with a rich cultural history and is part of the UNESCO World Heritage List. Travellers to Samarkand can enjoy astonishing monuments like the Registan Mosque and madrasas, Bibi-Khanum Mosque, the Shakhi-Zinda, the Gur-Emir and Ulugh-Beg’s Observatory.

With the addition of the new route, Samarkand joins the other five destinations in Central Asia the airline already serves: Almaty, Nur-Sultan (Kazakhstan), Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan), Dushanbe (Tajikistan) and Tashkent (Uzbekistan).

The service will be available starting 20 September. Moreover, code-shares will be offered by Emirates. Ticket fares will start at AED 1.800 for economy and AED 8.000 for business class seats.

World Travel Awards has nominated flydubai as Middle East’s Leading Low-Cost Airline 2022.
