Egypt To Promote Ancient Artefacts To Attract More French Tourists

News

Over 10,000 visitors a day are expected to visit the Lafayette exhibition space to see the 181 artefacts from ancient Egypt included in the "Ramses and Gold of the Pharaohs" display.

The Egyptian government is banking on an ancient artefacts display in Paris to attract more French visitors to the nation. The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism predicted a 20% rise in French tourists to Egypt as a result of the country's resurging fascination in its venerable civilisation.

According to Mohamed Othman, chairman of Egypt's Cultural Tourism Marketing Committee, the display is a great way to introduce Egyptian attractions to Europeans thanks to the immersive nature of augmented reality. More than 140,000 tickets had already been sold, he noted, long before the show opened.

A representative from a major travel firm named Ahmed Al-Sheikh also spoke about the value of international fairs like this one. He emphasised the role they play in fostering mutual understanding and respect between Egypt and its international hosts, notably France, where ancient Egyptian culture is much admired.

According to Arab News, Egypt travel writer Mohamed Taher reported a large crowd for the exhibition's first day.

Before making its way to France, the exhibition was on display in the United States for a whole calendar year. The exhibition will be open in Paris until September 17th.
