Czechia Initiates Program for Indonesian Students Seeking Work Opportunities

Destinations & Tourism

Czech Republic's authorities have declared the endorsement of a novel migration initiative designed to attract Indonesian students from polytechnic universities.

This initiative, as reported by SchengenVisaInfo.com, will enable approximately 300 students from specific Indonesian polytechnic institutions to engage in a two-year work experience within the nation. The intention behind this labor migration trial from Indonesia, as elucidated by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Czechia, is to address scarcities in the industrial workforce sector.

Handpicked individuals from Indonesia will be employed for a two-year period at the Škoda Group enterprise, encompassing roles such as welders, locksmiths, operating mechanics, repair technicians, and other capacities undergoing shortages.

Minister of Industry and Trade, Jozef Síkela, underlined the endorsement of the project by the Indonesian government, emphasizing how the endeavor not only equips Indonesian graduates with valuable field experience but also fosters deeper economic collaboration between the two nations.

Síkela also anticipates a strengthened relationship with Indonesia, highlighting the pursuit of future joint projects. Furthermore, he emphasized the exploration of Indonesia as an additional potential source of economic migration, citing analogous initiatives underway across various European countries.

In tandem with the above, Czechia has initiated a separate program for foreign highly skilled professionals. Termed the "digital nomad" program, this aims to draw adept workers to the country, permitting them to seek residence permits and reside within the Czech Republic.

The initiative is geared toward exceptional IT workers, designated as "digital nomads," hailing from Australia, Japan, Canada, South Korea, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Northern Ireland, the United States, and Taiwan exclusively. Solely citizens from these nations are eligible to request residence permits, allowing them to work remotely from Czech territory. Applications for such permits can be submitted at Czech embassies abroad, with processing time set at 45 days for this demographic.
