Cuyahoga Valley National Park Scored 2nd In Travel Lens Top

News

The online travel magazine has ranked Cuyahoga Valley National Park as the second-finest nature reserve in the United States.

According to an analysis by Travel Lens, America's top national parks are, in descending order: Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Glacier, and Yosemite. These parks were ranked using factors such as entry prices, number of visitors, proximity to major cities, as well as TripAdvisor ratings.

The analysis found that 2,575,275 people visited CVNP during 2021. There is no cost to enter, yet it is just three miles from the nearest town. The term "beautiful" appeared in 35.36 percent of reviewers' text on TripAdvisor. Because of these factors, CVNP earned an 8.16 out of a possible 10 points. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park in North Carolina and Tennessee scored 8.45 out of 10, making it the highest-rated park in the southeast.

“Despite being one of the smaller national parks on our list, with an area of just 131.8km², there are still plenty of things to do in Cuyahoga Valley National Park. The Ohio-based national park also boasts a free entrance fee, meaning anyone can go and enjoy it, as well as a short distance to its closest city. Just three miles separate Cuyahoga Valley and Peninsula”, the travel magazine stated.

In a top 10 that included 62 national parks, several well-known destinations including the Grand Canyon, Sequoia, Yosemite, and Yellowstone were omitted. Indeed, Yellowstone had 4,860,242 visitors, putting it in third place among the world's most popular parks, only behind Great Smoky Mountains and Zion.

Both the greatest location and the most attractive national park were rated in the survey.

Yosemite was rated as the finest national park for hiking, New River Gorge as the best for fishing, Olympic as the best for camping, the Grand Canyon as the best for paddling, Joshua Tree as the best for bouldering, Acadia as the best for bicycling, Grand Teton as the best for skiing and snowboarding, Glacier as the best for canoeing and kayaking, Everglades as the best for birding, and Yellowstone as the best for animal viewing. Parks like Yosemite, the Grand Canyon, Acadia, the Everglades, and Yellowstone were left off the top 10 list.

According to Travel Lens, the research compiled its data from the following sources: Wikipedia's list of U.S. national parks, TripAdvisor and Yelp for the ranking, number of evaluations, and comments mentioning beautiful; Destination Parks for the miles and the destination of each national park's nearest city; National Park Obsessed for the admission charge and Tripsavvy for attractions and activities.

Although just 62 national parks were included in the research, the National Park Service really manages more than 400 parks around the country with more than 19 other nomenclature designations, such as national recreational areas, parkways, monuments, and national shorelines.
