Climb@T3 Is The Newest Feature At Changi Airport

News

The unique attraction is part of the Changi Airport Group's (CAG) ongoing efforts to improve the overall enjoyment of travellers

A new rock climbing wall designed for sport climbing will soon be inaugurated at Changi Airport.

The Rock School (TRS) Singapore will be in charge of managing Climb@T3, which will be situated in the Basement 3 of Terminal 3. In addition to a boulder wall that is 12 metres in length and 8 metres in height, it will also include a rock climbing frame. Climbers of varied ability levels, ranging from children as young as two years old to adult aficionados, will be able to participate in both guided and free-and-easy courses at the climbing facility that welcomes families.

Phau Hui Hoon, the GM of Landside Concessions at CAG explained:

“At Changi Airport, we’re constantly looking for ways to delight our visitors and inject excitement into our offerings. Climb@T3 is the latest addition to Changi Airport’s suite of leisure and entertainment offerings and will offer a fun and challenging experience to our passengers and visitors. We hope both new and experienced climbers will enjoy scaling new heights with us.”

Chong Zedong, Managing Director of The Rock School, added:

“The Rock School is excited to partner CAG in this initiative because we believe that with our 15 years of experience, Climb@T3, as a family-friendly facility, will be able to add to Changi Airport’s value-proposition of being a world-class icon and destination in itself.”

Climbing amenities like no other

The 8-meter High Wall, which can be found in both Basements 2 and 3, is the primary draw of Climb@T3. The wall's nine lanes, each of which is outfitted with a state-of-the-art auto rappel mechanism, were built by the official wall supplier for the 2020 and 2024 Olympic Games. These systems enable users to enjoy climbing even if they are not familiar with how to belay. There are approximately 20 distinct climbing routes that climbers may choose from to provide a daunting task to themselves and their friends. In the not too distant future, this will expand to perhaps thirty different routes, each with a degree of difficulty varying from easy to moderate.

Additionally, there is a 12-meter-long and 2.5-meter-high boulder wall that is accessible for climbers. This wall will be available to all climbers, but it was constructed primarily for children and novice climbers so that they can fine tune their skills and build their strength before moving on to higher options.

The 'Climb and Play (Unguided)' programme is available to climbers aged two and up who would want to participate in an unsupervised climbing session that lasts up to two hours and is both free and simple. Any children less than 12 years old are required to have a parent or guardian present. Those individuals who feel more comfortable being led through their climbing experience may sign up for the "Climb and Play (Guided)" session. During this, qualified instructors will engage in a special one hour class demonstrating attendees the ins and outs of the High Wall.

The Rock Tots programme is geared at children between the ages of two and six, and it is full of different games and activities that are meant to teach youngsters new sorts of motion in a manner that is both enjoyable and suitable for their age group. This biweekly one-hour Boulder Wall-only programme will increasingly test youngsters and unexperienced climbers on both a psychological and physical level, and it is a terrific method to create connection between parents and their children.

In addition, on an as-needed basis, staff members with specialised training will direct programmes designed specifically for participants who have unique requirements. In the future, other programmes, such as the well-known Step Up! Coaching Program for children, which implements a lasting coaching methodology established by specialists in the fields of sports science and youth development, will be included to the line-up of available options.

Climb@T3 encourages guests to bring their own climbing equipment, although customers may also rent mounting harnesses and shoes if they choose.
