Cesarina Group to launch Elvira

Pasta experts are ready to take up Ocean Beach landmark with Cesarina's second Italian restaurant.
Cesarina Group is owned and operated by husband and wife team Niccol Angius and chef Cesarina Mezzoni, ans well as their close friend Giuseppe Capasso.
Their first location, which debuted in 2020 between Ocean Beach and Point Loma, has been an instant success, earning them the title of "Best Pasta" in the 2019 "Best Restaurants" edition of San Diego Magazine.
Elvira, named after Niccoló's great-grandmother, will be their next restaurant concept, debuting this year’s August.
“We love this community and the neighbourhood. We’ve established a reputation in Point Loma and Ocean Beach, so we wanted to stay close. It’s also convenient to have both projects close by so we can remain hands-on and maintain quality,” commented Niccol Angius.
Elvira is getting a makeover by Italian architects and decorators Limes Architetti, who are including thrift store finds, old family photos, and a chequered floor into the design.
The roughly 2,400 square foot area has a private family-centric dining room inspired by the meals Angius had with his grandmother, a complete bar, and a covered terrace with a hybrid gas pizza burner.
While the menu is still being fine-tuned, chef Mezzoni has made it plain that she intends to communicate the history of old Roman alleys via food. According to Angius, the menu will revolve on classic Roman fare, with an equal emphasis on pizza, pasta, and main courses. Paper menus and QR codes will be unavailable. Instead, the menu will be written on a chalkboard or presented to you orally.
Cucina di La Nonna, a private dining space off the kitchen, will be available for reservation for groups of up to eight people. The special space is meant to be an innovative take on Elvira's home that allows for social interaction and great vibes, while recreating the atmosphere of eating at grandma's home.
Elvira, located at 4996 Point Loma Boulevard, Ocean Beach, is scheduled to debut in August 2023.
