Celebrity Solstice Honours 15 Years of Exceptional Service

Cruise Lines & Cruise Ships

This year marks 15 years of service for the stunning cruise ship.

The first passengers boarded the Celebrity Cruises ship on November 23, 2008, after it had been launched out in August 2008.

The ship was constructed at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany and is the first of the Solstice Class featuring five such vessels. It was transported to the United States and then sailed across the Atlantic for its first service season in the Caribbean. The itinerary included several seven-night cruises that set sail from Fort Lauderdale.

The 2,850-passenger vessel sailed back to Europe in 2009 for a summer season of Mediterranean cruises. Its itinerary included stops in Italy, Greece, Turkey, and other countries.

In late 2012, the Solstice began providing cruises to Asia, Australia, and New Zealand in addition to its previously existing journey offerings across Europe and the Caribbean. In 2013, the ship made her debut in Alaska, sailing week-long itineraries out of Seattle.

Along with its winter itineraries in Southeast Asia and the Far East, the vessel is planning to introduce a new summer program in Alaska in 2024. The 12-day cruises will depart from Singapore and Hong Kong and stop at many ports in Vietnam and Thailand.

The Celebrity Solstice, the first ship of the Solstice class, introduced many innovations to the cruise industry, including the Lawn Club. The half-acre of actual, growing grass is one of the centrepieces of the 122,000-ton ship, which is positioned on an upper deck.

In addition to the AquaClass, the ship's spa-inspired suites, which have exclusive access to the ship's signature Mediterranean-inspired speciality restaurant, Blu, the Celebrity Solstice has more than ten more dining options.

The ship also has a casino, a three-level theatre, two pool decks (one of which is covered in glass), and an impressive number of restaurants and lounges.
