British Airways opens luxury lounge at Dubai International
Dubai International Airport dethroned London's Heathrow Airport last year from his position as the busiest international air hub in the world due to increasing number of passengers that chose to fly with the local airline company, Emirates. The number of passengers who used the airport in Dubai last year increased by 6.1% to 70.5 million, almost all traveling to or from locations outside the United Arab Emirates, reported Bloomberg. Emirate of Dubai has used its position at the crossroads between Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East to become a trasfer basis for intercontinental flights, Emirates is already the leading operator on the international air transport market.
It will also feature artwork from established Iraqi-born artist, Dia Al Azzawi, as well as Gulf heritage images from the British Airways archive.
The new Dubai lounge is home to the airline’s second Concorde Bar, the first of which opened late last year in Singapore.
First customers will be given a special entry card at reception for the private bar, which they simply swipe at an electronic reader to gain access.
Inside, they will be able to choose from a selection of fine wines and champagne before relaxing in the privacy of their own booth.
The lounge is open to British Airways’ First and Club World (business class) customers as well as Silver and Gold executive club members.
