British Airways Bolsters Chicago Operations with New Daily Flight and Terminal Move

Airlines & Airports

British Airways commemorates 70 years of service in Chicago by introducing a third daily flight to London and relocating its operations to Terminal 3 at O'Hare International Airport.

British Airways is celebrating a significant milestone—70 years of flights between Chicago and London—by enhancing its service offerings, including the addition of a third daily non-stop flight this summer and relocating its operations from Terminal 5 to Terminal 3 at Chicago O'Hare International Airport.

The move to Terminal 3, a hub for its Atlantic Joint Business partners, offers British Airways customers improved connectivity within the American Airlines network, access to premium lounges, and dedicated check-in areas. "As we mark our 70th anniversary in Chicago, we are excited to enhance our service. The new daily flight and our move to Terminal 3 alongside our partners exemplify our commitment to providing exceptional convenience and service to our Chicago customers," said Neil Chernoff, British Airways’ Chief Planning and Strategy Officer.

The transition to Terminal 3 not only benefits passengers with smoother connections but also positions British Airways closer to its oneworld partners, such as American Airlines, Iberia, and Japan Airlines, enhancing the overall travel experience.

This year also marks a personal milestone for Maureen McLafferty, British Airways' Regional Airport Manager in Chicago, who celebrates 40 years with the company. McLafferty shares her enthusiasm: "It's thrilling to celebrate my fourth decade with British Airways and 70 years of our flights to Chicago with these significant enhancements to our service. We look forward to welcoming our customers to our new home at Terminal 3."

British Airways' operational shift and the addition of the third daily flight aim to strengthen its presence in Chicago, a city that has been a pivotal part of its network since 1954. The airline operates the route with its modern fleet of Boeing 777 and 787 aircraft, further reinforcing its commitment to customer comfort and sustainability.
