Belgians and Tourists Participated in a March against Terror
Thousands of Belgians and tourists met this Sunday in Brussels to participate in the march against terror. 15,000 people were expected to show their solidarity with the victims of the terrorist attacks committed on the Zaventem airport and on the Maelbeek metro station in Brussels, RTBF writes.
Participants in the march against terror, also known as “All Together ", went to the Place de la Bourse, the place where is located the memorial of the 22nd of March terrorist attacks victims.
At the Fontainas Square, the families of the victims, members of security and Zaventem airport employees made speeches. Families of the victims were received by the Belgian prime minister and by Deputy Michael Charles.
The demonstrators put flowers at the victims’ memorial monument and raised placards with messages such as "Daech cease! Belgium is not yours," using an acronym for the Islamic State terror network that has claimed the terror attacks of March.
The march was originally scheduled on 27th of March, the weekend after the attacks, but was canceled after the Belgian authorities had asked to postpone the demonstration for security reasons.
Belgian Minister Jan Jambon and the Mayor of Brussels, Yavne Mayeur, asked for the postponement of the march for security reasons, arguing that the guards are mobilized in the surveys, which are an absolute priority, so the demonstrations couldn’t have been held in the best conditions.
